CASES at Churchill

CASES has been involved in exploring and understanding the energy security of Churchill. Kvern et al. (2022) published a case study on Churchill, in which they found that jurisdictional realities and reliance insecure supply line drive community's desire to seek renewable and local energy.

Home to Arctic research

A former military base, Churchill attracts a lot of attention from researchers with interest in Polar Bears, Marine and coastal ecosystems, as well as sustainability. Founded in 1976, the Churchill Northern Studies Centre (CNSC) has been providing space and resources for local research and education. The CNSC is LEED certified facility with state of the art energy utilization. The centre currently has the ongoing Rocket Greens project, meant to address food-security issues in northern remote communities.
